Post-op recovery

Post-operative lymphatic drainage

What is post-operative lymphatic drainage massage?

A gentle, specialized technique that helps your body remove excess fluid, reduce swelling, and support healing after surgery. By stimulating the lymphatic system, it moves trapped fluid so your body can naturally eliminate it, which may reduce inflammation, bruising, and discomfort.

Do you offer post-operative lymphatic massage in Austin?

Yes. We provide professional post-operative lymphatic drainage in Austin and the greater Central Texas area, for patients recovering from both medical and cosmetic procedures.

What types of surgeries benefit from lymphatic drainage?

It can support recovery after many procedures, including:

  • Liposuction and body contouring
  • Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and tummy tuck
  • Breast surgery (augmentation, reduction, or reconstruction)
  • Knee, shoulder, ACL, and hip replacement surgery
  • Back or spinal surgery
  • Bariatric, gastric bypass, and abdominal surgery
  • Swelling after sports injuries
How does lymphatic drainage help after surgery?

After surgery, your body often retains fluid due to inflammation and temporary disruption of the lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage can help:

  • Reduce post-surgical swelling
  • Encourage fluid movement and drainage
  • Improve circulation and support tissue healing
  • Reduce discomfort and pressure
  • Lower the risk of fluid buildup (seromas)
When should I start lymphatic drainage after surgery?

Many patients begin within the first week after surgery, once their surgeon gives approval. Early treatment can help control swelling and prevent fluid buildup, but exact timing depends on your procedure and your physician's recommendations.

Is lymphatic drainage safe after surgery?

Yes, when performed by a practitioner trained in post-operative recovery. The technique uses very light, controlled movements that avoid pressure on healing tissue while encouraging lymphatic flow.

How many sessions are recommended?

It depends on your surgery and how you heal. Many patients benefit from a series of sessions during the first few weeks of recovery, while others continue ongoing sessions to manage swelling long term.

Can it help after sports injuries or orthopedic surgery?

Yes. Many patients use lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support mobility after ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery, rotator cuff repair, knee replacement, or hip surgery.

Can it help after bariatric or abdominal surgery?

Yes. After gastric bypass, bariatric, or abdominal surgery, lymphatic drainage may help reduce swelling and fluid retention while supporting your body's natural healing.

I'm traveling for surgery. Do you offer recovery support?

Yes. Many clients travel to Austin and Central Texas for surgery. We coordinate post-op sessions during your stay, and our Post-Op Resort Stay at Kalahari Resorts offers care, meals, and transportation during your first days of recovery.

Medical weight loss

GLP-1 weight loss

How much weight can I lose with GLP-1 medications?

Many patients lose 15–25% of their body weight, depending on the medication and how closely they follow the program. Individual results vary.

How quickly will I see results?

Most patients begin seeing weight loss within the first 4–8 weeks, with continued progress over several months.

Do I have to come to the clinic every week?

No. Many patients choose telehealth visits, medication shipped to their home, and remote follow-ups.

Are GLP-1 medications safe?

When prescribed and monitored by medical professionals, GLP-1 medications have been extensively studied and widely used for metabolic health and weight management. Every patient completes a medical evaluation first.

Can GLP-1 medications help with diabetes or insulin resistance?

Yes. These medications were originally developed to help manage blood sugar and insulin resistance.
